Cycling continued

The hand injury, which I got during biking, kept me far from cycling for atleast 3 weeks. I was so much eager to hit the road. That Monday morning, I was still in a dilemma "should I go for a ride or no?!!!". After yes, no, yes, no I decided to take it to office !!!

The route being Bommanahalli, Silk board, HSR layout and Bellandur, a total of 14 kms. The road was smooth enough and it seemed as if its not going to be difficult affair.

The hosur road stretch was very bad with traffic. And since I am inexperienced to handle it, the struggle exaggerated to some extent. Till silk board I didn't put much effort to peddle but struggled to get over traffic. The real test came in after I crossed silk board. My stamina started reducing drastically. The remaining path seemed much more than the entire distance from home to office. Slowly I moved.

I crossed HSR layout with difficult, then things started looking positive. Felt as if I am moving faster and destination is closer. Reached Sarjapura cross and I felt much much better, it was an accomplishment waited for. The destination wasn't far away.

As I reached the entrance, I was celebrating already :)

Posted my achievement on facebook and lot of kudos came in.

After that I have peddled 2 more times to office. Its a lot more easier now. Cycling to office is going to be a normal affair from now on. This should definitely help me in strengthening my calf muscle, to loose weight and to run.

First dinner together

20-Feb-2014 This date has to be remembered.

Pappa and Chinni had dinner together at home. Pappa finished 2 chapatis while Chinni finished 1. There was quite a lot of chit chat and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Chinni asked "Why is Nakul's pappa so dumma ?" and I laughed to the core. Made up a reason as to "he doesn't exercise!!!".

And I asked "Is Chinni's pappa dumma?", for which she measured pappa's tummy and said "it's only so much small".

The chit chat would be more interesting if me, N and Chinni have dinner together. The "having dinner watching tv" tradition has to go away.

The biking bug woke up

Was roaming around fb 2 weeks back in the suggested pages list and hit upon Trailbug and Wanderlust. Little did I knew about it. Opened up the page and the first thing I noticed was a breakfast ride on 2nd Feb. I was excited. Immediately decided to join the ride. There was this pending wish to go for a long ride on my Avenger, even though I had done Nandi hills just after I bought it. Thought this would be a great experience riding with a bunch of experienced and enthusiasts. Believe me it turned out to be a very good experience. Here goes in detail....

The Route
1. Start from Flamenco, 4th block, Jayanagar
2. Kanva Reservior
3. Magadi
4. Back to Bangalore

The schedule for the 1 Feb- 2 Feb weekend
1. Sports day organized by Klay School for Chinni on Saturday at 9.30 am
2. Bicycle maintenance workshop at Cadence90 from 3pm to 4pm
3. Barry's show at 10 pm
4. Kanva Reservoir ride at 5 am on Sunday

That was a tight schedule and I wasn't quite sure which one I am going to drop. Couldn't go to Barry's show.

Woke up at 4.10 am. I already had a give-up symptoms. Mind was wobbling yes, no, yes, no. It took 2 minutes to decided, ofcourse it was yes at the end. Got ready and was at Flamenco sharp 5 am. Couple of guys were already present. We started at 5.30 am sharp.

The next stop was at Bidadi for breakfast. Was hoping to have some yummy dishes at Yatri nivas, but the guys stopped at a Thatte idly junction in Bidadi. And it was in no way less tasty that Yatri nivas breakfast.

We reached the reservoir around 7.30. It was almost empty, but the environment was quite nice, calm. Spent good enough time enjoying the surrounding. The guys had a good chit chat and laugh riots sometimes.

Then we headed towards Magadi via small villages. But the roads were amazing good and curvy. At a point of time I couldn't take the steep curve and the slope made me go out of control, 50 meters I managed off road and bang!!! I fell. Fortunately wasn't hurt much apart from my right palm. Bike could also hold on to the impact with only the handle bending a little. Vishal and others were of great help with the first aid and setting me back on track.

There on I was a bit afraid during the curves, didn't cross 40 kmph till we hit the main road leading to Magadi. Abhijit filled in some confidence. The ride from thereon till Bangalore was enjoyable (speed wasn't more than 60kmph though).

In total, there was pain and gain.
