40s, Health, Lifestyle Diseases, Uncertainty at 60

In 40s and 50s the concentration shifts towards health looking at the report card, yup the blood test report card. The good ones are below the boundary line and bad ones are above the boundary line. Does these number pop-up suddenly ? No ways, they have been building all throughout our life. I never looked the parameters when crossed 35. That would have raised alarms.

When the numbers cross the boundary line, it's so much pressure to bring them back to normal and talk to anybody on earth, its painstakingly longer than expected.

So here are the pointers from an experienced person
  • Workout, Exercise regularly right from the beginning as early as 20s.
  • Inculcate habits that push you to be physically active.
  • Enjoy food. Every one enjoy the junk, but my point is enjoy the healthy ones as well.
  • Start monitoring your blood parameters and signs by your body.
  • Alcohol / Cigarette consumption worsens the conditions
Diabetes will cause a big. That's the start of all the problems. When body doesn't produce enough insulin, sugar starts getting into blood and its circulates throughout the body and heart. Now the veins, in which blood flows, start accumulating the stains of this sugar on the walls and impacts the blood flow slowly, year after year.

The deep fried food, alcohol damages the liver.

When this accumulation itself takes years, the cure will also be as long. Then starts increase in blood pressure, fatigue and other diseases. Then the pressure to maintain diet, exercise builds rapidly.

Its like Bangalore city, every where traffic.

All of a sudden one starts thinking why is it happening to me? The answer is - because you ignored taking care of body right from the beginning.

When a parent teaches to study regularly for the year end exam, why doesn't the same parent implies the same to his/her health? Well, teach the kid also about health, not only prepare for exam but also take care of health.

The long term impact ? One starts taking diabetes medicine at 45, bp medicine will be introduced in my prescription by 48-50, then cholesterol control tablets by 52, heart surgery by 55 and bedridden by 60. So by 60, one will be consuming 8 to 10 tablets daily instead of food.

All the best !

AI - What lies in the future?

Came across this article today - https://www.moneycontrol.com/science/watch-china-s-humanoid-robots-practice-kung-fu-with-shaolin-monks-in-viral-temple-video-article-13820936.html

Excerpts from the article - Chinese robotics firm Agibot released a new video on February 7 featuring humanoid robots practicing kung fu at China’s historic Shaolin Temple, sparking widespread discussion online and raising questions about the growing presence of artificial intelligence in traditional human spaces.

Probably everyone has watched videos of robots in airports, have a cleaning robo at home, computers aiding engineers to write programs, helping doctors in diagnosis of diseases faster etc etc. That's 2026.

What lies in the future?

  • People will buy a robot and send it to work. More the money, smarter the robo and higher the earnings
  • Wars will be fought by robos
  • Police being replaced
  • Robos will be sent to space
  • A robo teacher is school and colleges
  • Robos farming
  • Elderly care by robos
  • Robos in action during fire fight
  • Boat seizure, robos sent
  • Robos exploring unexlpored deep ocean
  • Send them to Antartica or Artic zones
Smart AI, Dumb Human.

Old Age Home

The previous generations had 2 or 3 children, the one before that had 6 to 7 children, no guess on how many did the one before had.

Cities developed, infrastructure grew, industries increased in numbers and resultant was people started moving to cities for jobs. The joint families with 6-7 siblings split up. The ones who moved to cities started having lesser kids for various reasons. Kids started looking for opportunities overseas and who were left behind? The parents, the elders and that gave a space for old age homes.

I have seen parents living with kids, kids living in different cities and elders without family. So what's the point?

There is definitely need of Old Age Homes.

I, myself, thinking of constructing one. God know if I can afford taking shelter in an old age home, so why not have one of my own?

The Wait Kills

In 21st Century, the Wait is simply exhausting or to put it in different perspective we don't have patience. Let me explain what I mean.

Recollect the last time you ordered food on a Sunday morning and the delivery guy on the app shows he hasn't picked up the food yet. The "wait" begins. No matter how hard you try, the situation isn't going to improve as it's out of your control. One keeps checking if the food got picked. Wait isn't over yet, one keeps a track of the delivery guy all through the traffic till he reaches doorstep.

You have attended an interview for a job. After every round the "wait" for the schedule for next round seems endless. And after the last round the "wait" for the offer letter is eternity.

Just the "wait" for salary after 10th of every month is painful.

The "wait" for a stock price to go up, exam results, blood reports, getting cured after falling ill 🤒, festivals especially Deepawali and Ganesh Chaturthi, the "wait" for vacations and the list goes on.

My point is the duration for which we wait isn't that long as it actually is. There is one particular wait that I want to emphasize.

Elders, especially the one who live in old age home, the bed ridden ones, the ones who have chronic diseases the wait is unbearable. The real pain lies there. It's impossible to feel that pain of waiting for the "death". Although nobody expresses it but definitely thinks about it for the wait to get over.

This particular "wait" kills.
